Immerse yourself in the beauty and wildlife that Capers Island has to offer! Enjoy a boat excursion as we venture to one of the few remaining undeveloped barrier islands.
Quick Details
The salt marshes we explore on our route to Capers Island have one of the healthiest oyster populations on earth. An all you can eat buffet just sitting there waiting for you to pick up and enjoy their succulent salty flavor!
You will spend time exploring the salt marshes with your naturalist captain. Check a crab trap, spend time with dolphins, and learn all about the birds and marine life encountered along the way. Your guide will explain all about the oyster life cycle, ecological way to harvest, and their incredibly important role in the ecosystem.
If desired, you will have a chance to harvest oysters or just let your guide do the work. We can harvest a bushel that you can take home or just enough for an oyster roast on Capers Island.
After harvesting, we will head a few minutes away to Capers Island where you will have time to explore its bone-yard beach while the captain gets the grill or steam pot going. You are welcome to bring any additional food and drinks.
Add a Lowcountry Boil on the beach for an additional $25/person fee. $150/hr up to 6 people, $225/hour 7-16 people. (Includes cooking and condiments). Recommend 3-4hrs. If you would like to harvest oysters yourself you will need your SC Salt Water Fishing License ($5 resident, $11 non resident).
