Hurricane (prep) Party!

The official hurricane season is June 1st-November 30th and this specific timeframe was chosen by the National Hurricane Center. During this time is when about 97% of hurricanes and tropical storms occur in the Atlantic. (en.wikipedia.org+2foxweather.com+2weather.com+2.) Early-season storms (occurring in May) or late-season storms (occurring in December) can form but, the majority of storms happen within these six months.

As hurricane season approaches, preparation is key to keeping your family and property safe. Start by assembling an emergency kit with essentials like non-perishable food, water (at least one gallon per person per day), flashlights, batteries, medications, and important documents. Know your evacuation routes, keep your gas tank full, and stay informed with reliable weather alerts. If you live in a flood-prone area, consider sandbags and move valuables to higher ground.

Before the storm arrives, secure outdoor furniture, board up windows, and charge all devices. Stay indoors during the storm and never attempt to drive through flooded roads. After the storm passes, avoid downed power lines and follow local guidance on when it’s safe to return if you’ve evacuated.
