Charleston Beer Week Caper’s Island Cleanup Excursion
Person
$ 45
Join Pawleys Island Brewing, Barrier Island EcoTours and the South Carolina Aquarium to celebrate Charleston Beer Week with a beach/marsh clean up and Lowcountry boil on Capers Island. We will depart from the Isle of Palms Marina and head up the intracoastal waterway to Capers Island State Heritage Preserve, guided by a naturalist who will entertain you with their knowledge about the ecosystem and wildlife encountered along the way.
The boat will take us to the back side of the island where we’ll spend approximately an hour picking up litter in this fragile ecosystem. We will then head to the beach to enjoy live acoustic bluegrass by The DamRites, Pawleys Island Brewing craft beer (water and tea will also be provided), and meander down the “bone-yard beach” on Capers Island before enjoying a Lowcountry boil of fresh local shrimp, smoked sausage, fresh corn, potatoes and onions prepared on the beach. Our cruise back to the Isle of Palms Marina will be timed as the sun sets over the salt marsh. Don’t miss this amazing event!
What to wear/bring: long pants and close-toed shoes or boots that can get muddy, maybe a clean pair to wear after the sweep; bring anything else you would like to drink or eat (you are welcome to bring a small cooler).
