Happy Crabbing!

If you’ve ever wanted to experience a true Lowcountry tradition, our Blue Crabbing Excursion is the perfect way to spend an afternoon on the water. Combining hands-on crabbing, wildlife viewing, island exploration, and a classic crab boil, this trip offers a little bit of everything that makes the South Carolina coast so special.
Our adventure begins at the Isle of Palms Marina, where guests board a shaded vessel for a scenic ride through the salt marshes toward beautiful Capers Island Heritage Preserve. Along the way, your naturalist will introduce you to the wildlife that calls these waterways home. Keep your eyes peeled for bottlenose dolphins, wading birds, and other coastal creatures as you cruise through the marsh.
Once we arrive at Capers Island, it’s time to learn the old-fashioned art of blue crabbing. Using hand lines and dip nets, guests can try their hand at catching blue crabs from the shoreline while guides demonstrate traditional crabbing techniques. We’ll also pull a few crab traps and discuss the fascinating life history of blue crabs and stone crabs. While we’re on the island, you’ll have time to explore the beach, swim (at your own risk), or simply relax and enjoy one of the most pristine barrier islands in South Carolina.
The grand finale is a classic Lowcountry crab boil right on the beach. Fresh steamed blue crabs sourced from local crabbers are served with butter and Old Bay seasoning, along with watermelon. While the crabs we catch during the excursion are released, we bring plenty of fresh crabs for everyone to enjoy.
The total trip time is 3.5 hours! Byob and snacks! This is just a summer trip for us so don’t miss out!
