WAVE ambassadors for LMMN!

As a refresher we’d like to talk a little about citizen science and then highlight a workshop some of our staff participated in. Citizen science is a form of data collection that the public of all ages can participate in. It usually involves the collection of data and recording it or entering it into a database for different organizations. A list of citizen science projects will be listed & linked  below!!

Recently some of our team got to participate in the Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network WAVE ambassador training. This local organization is one of our partners that strives to protect and raise awareness for marine mammals as well as get people involved in citizen science dolphin counts.

The WAVE training includes information about current marine mammal research, NOAA policies, basic information about marine mammals, and how to safely observe dolphins and sea turtles from boats and land.

If you’re interested in learning more about LMMN and what they do check out their website here OR all the events they are hosting for dolphin week which is starting April 15th and running until April 20th!
